HOW DOES COPYRIGHT WORK FOR PUBLIC VIDEOS USED IN PlayPosit?

All videos accessible in PlayPosit are legally streamed from online hosting providers who own and/or manage the copyright to the original media and give us permission to use it on our platform. For example, when PBS places a video on YouTube, PBS maintains the original copyright but gives YouTube permission to distribute the video on their website and to websites like PlayPosit that pull in videos via the YouTube API. As long as YouTube is satisfied that PBS is the true copyright owner, then they will keep it online, and we can legally use it in PlayPosit.

While you are in compliance with YouTube and Vimeo by using these videos, it's important to consider if the original video is infringing on anything. In which case the video could be taken down at any time. We do not condone downloading and re-hosting videos that you do not own.
